From 4 to 6 July, it takes place the Estonian Song and Dance Celebration. It’s a great opportunity to see a wide variety of folklore in Estonia.
It happens every 5 years and it’s part of UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
This is not just a summer festival because for the Estonian people it represent the way to claim for their cultural identity. This “Singing Revolution” is based on the Song Celebration tradition, when hundreds of thousands of people gathered to make political demands and sing patriotical songs during the Russian occupation. That is why for the Estonian is very important this event.
